Xiaomi POCO X3 GT 5G 8GB Review - Superb Performance and Economical

This is my first post reviewing a smartphone. Smartphones have come a long way since what it was 2 decades ago. There were very limited choices in that period, and the most innovative smartphone was the Nokia 9910 Communicator. It could hardly browse websites with its tiny screen and it had a dysfunctional keyboard. Users could hardly access most banking websites with that device. It was mainly functional as a vanity and status symbol. Xiaomi didn't even exist at that time.

Today I will be reviewing the Xiaomi POCO X3 GT with 8GB RAM. These new GT versions are meant to deliver speed on the budget, and they sure look intriguing.  It comes with 2 storage options, the 128GB and the 256GB. It was launched on August 19, 2021.

First things first, the battery is not easily removable like most smartphones these days. It runs on Android 11 which is pretty common these days. It has a side-mounted fingerprint reader and comes with Face Recognition. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh which is enough for a day's heavy use.

Its screen resolution is 2400x1080, with 8GB of RAM. Both are enough to satisfy the RAM-intensive and high-resolution Apps of daily use. It has 3 cameras on the back, with a Type-C charging interface. It does not support wireless charging. It can support up to 2 SIM cards, with a screen size of 6.55 inches.

It does not spot a 3.5mm headphone jack, although that is fine, as Type-C to 3.5mm jack converters are pretty common these days. It supports 4G and 5G technology, although it will be prudent for users to ensure it supports the right 5G Band which is catered by the local telecom provider.

What is magnificent with this phone is that it supports 67 Watts Turbo Charging, which is pretty fast even for the high-end segment of most smartphones. It is safe to say Xiaomi is one of the leaders in developing cutting-edge charging technology, and this can be seen by the inclusion of turbo-charging in this smartphone. The brochure claims that it can go between 0-100% charging rate in just 42 minutes.

The screen refresh rate is 120Hz, which is quite good, giving an ultra-responsive display, especially for gaming. POCO is also advertising the screen for its adaptive refresh rate - it should be able to switch between 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz automatically depending on the content.

The phone has an ultra-slim body of 8.9mm and weighs 193g, which is spectacular.

This POCO boasts 3 back cameras, 64MP, 8MP, and 2MP respectively. It has one front camera with 16MP resolution.

It comes in 3 colours, Stargaze Black, Cloud White and Wave Blue.

The front glass boasts Gorilla Glass Victus, the latest glass by Gorrila Glass, which means the screen would likely be durable and scratch resistant and can survive intermediate drops. It is also certified IP53, which means it has dust and splash protection(I doubt the warranty covers water damage).
